MA’AN Development Center Launches a Project to Promote Civic Engagement and Empower Adolescents and Youth in the West Bank

MA’AN Development Center has launched the project “Civic Engagement through the Empowerment of Adolescents and Youth in Marginalized Communities in the West Bank,” funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The project aims to strengthen the participation of adolescents and youth in their communities and develop their skills and capacities across several areas of the West Bank.
The project targets adolescents aged 13–18 in the governorates of Jenin, Nablus, and Tulkarm, in addition to several villages northwest of Jerusalem. It will provide interactive activities and programmes designed to enhance life skills, civic engagement, and awareness of protection and safety issues.
As one of the project’s first activities, MA’AN conducted a training programme for 20 facilitators and volunteer social workers (17 Females and 3 Males) to strengthen their capacities and prepare them to implement project activities with adolescents in the targeted communities.
The training covered several key topics, including Life Skills (LS), Integration of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education and Conflict Preparedness and Protection (EORE-CPP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM).
The training aims to ensure a safe and supportive environment for participants and enhance the ability of facilitators and social workers to respond to adolescents’ needs and deliver activities in accordance with the principles of protection, accountability, and meaningful participation.
