Completion and Handover of Rehabilitation Works at Tammun Basic School under the Jordan Valley Resilience Project

MA’AN Development Center has completed the rehabilitation and renovation works at Tammun Basic School in Tubas Governorate, and the project has been officially handed over. The intervention was implemented as part of the “Strengthening the Resilience of Communities in the Jordan Valley – JOUD V” project, funded by the Norwegian Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority, and in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
The school building consists of three floors, each covering an area of 400 m², with a total area of 1,200 m². The school serves 324 students and 19 teachers, bringing the total number of direct beneficiaries to 343. The rehabilitation works have contributed to improving the learning environment and enhancing safety and functionality within the school, providing a more suitable environment for both students and educational staff.
The rehabilitation works included renovating classrooms, repairing cracks in the walls, carrying out roof insulation works, and completing interior and exterior painting. The intervention also included upgrading the electrical network and installing modern electrical panels, contributing to improved efficiency and safer use of the school’s facilities.
Tammun Basic School is one of nine schools targeted by the project for comprehensive rehabilitation and renovation works. These interventions aim to improve educational infrastructure in targeted areas of the Jordan Valley and provide a safe, adequate, and supportive learning environment, while strengthening the resilience of local communities and ensuring children’s continued access to safe and quality education.
The interventions were implemented based on an assessment and identification of actual needs on the ground, in coordination with the engineering teams of the Ministry of Education. This approach ensures that rehabilitation works address the schools’ actual priorities and achieve a sustainable impact that benefits students and the local community for years to come.
