MA’AN, the Ministry of Agriculture, and Rift Valley Discuss the Selection of Beneficiaries for a Project to Develop the Palestinian Date Sector

MA’AN Development Center, in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture and in partnership with Rift Valley, held a meeting to review applications and select beneficiaries for the project “Scaling Up Climate Innovations and Circular Economy in the Palestinian Date Sector” in Jericho and the Jordan Valley.
The process aims to ensure transparency in beneficiary selection and equitable access to support opportunities without exclusion or marginalization.
The project targets 40 small-scale date producers, including women, men, and youth, and seeks to strengthen their capacities in sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, improve the quality and safety of production, advance circular economy practices, and enhance their ability to access markets and value chains in a safe and equitable manner.
The project reflects a participatory approach to agricultural sector development based on inclusion, equity, empowerment, and partnership-building, contributing to strengthening the resilience of small-scale producers and the sustainability of the Palestinian date sector.
The intervention also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to Zero Hunger, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Climate Action, with a particular focus on addressing the impacts of climate change on agriculture and smallholder farmers.
Furthermore, the project contributes to strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly between the private sector and small-scale farmers, in a way that supports private-sector development while enabling small producers to improve their competitiveness, strengthen their economic opportunities, and gain better access to markets.
