Completion of a Rainwater and Flood Drainage Culvert Project
MA'AN Development Center has completed the implementation of a project to construct a culvert for rainwater and flood drainage adjacent to Ras Al-Far’a Mixed Basic School in the village of Ras Al-Far’a, Tubas Governorate. The project was funded by Adam Smith Foundation, as part of the center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve public safety conditions in rural areas.
This intervention comes in response to an urgent need to address real risks that were threatening the safety of students and teaching staff, due to floodwaters flowing through an open valley adjacent to the school site. This situation posed a danger to the infrastructure and hindered the official opening of the school.
The project included the construction of a reinforced concrete culvert with a total length of 94 linear meters. It involved integrated construction works, including inspection chambers, concrete works at the inlets and outlets, as well as road surface rehabilitation, ensuring safe and organized drainage of rainwater and floods while protecting the site from erosion and water accumulation risks.
It was implemented in coordination with Tubas Governorate, the Directorate of Education, and Ras Al-Far’a Village Council, within a partnership aimed at enhancing responsiveness to local community needs.
MA'AN Development Center emphasized that this intervention directly contributes to enhancing public safety and providing a safe educational environment, in addition to supporting the Ministry of Education’s efforts to complete the requirements for the school’s opening and operation, benefiting around 250 students in the area.
The Center concluded by reaffirming its commitment to continuing the implementation of infrastructure and essential service projects that strengthen community resilience and reduce environmental risks.
