MA’AN Development Center: “Drop of Life” Initiative Provides Safe Drinking Water for Displaced Families in Abu Hujair Camp
As part of ongoing community efforts to respond to the needs of displaced populations, MA’AN Development Center continues to support and empower local communities in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, the Abu Hujair Camp Protection Committee implemented a community initiative titled “Drop of Life,” which involved the installation and operation of a water desalination unit داخل the camp in Al-Zawaida area. The initiative aims to provide safe drinking water for displaced families residing in the camp.
This initiative came in response to an urgent need for safe water, identified through community priority assessments. It has contributed to alleviating the daily suffering of residents, particularly vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly. It has also helped improve public health conditions and enhance the sense of safety and stability within the camp.
The impact of the initiative was not limited to service provision; it also strengthened the role of the community committee in planning, organizing, and follow-up processes. This highlights the importance of community-led initiatives in developing practical, people-centered solutions that directly respond to local needs.
MA’AN Development Center reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners to enhance humanitarian response efforts and support the resilience of affected communities across the Gaza Strip.
