As part of the Child Resilience project with Save the Children International, MA’AN carried out an accessories design training for the girls of the Sheikh Sa’ed Girls’ School in the village of Sheikh Sa’ed, Jerusalem. Approximately 25 girls participated in the workshop that took place Saturday, 13 April, 2013.
The girls learned the basics of accessories’ design, were introduced to all the tools used, and were taught how to use different color schemes to create beautiful accessories with beads.
The girls greatly enjoyed this activity. One of the girls said “Today, I learned how to follow carefully directions from the instructor and utilize my own innovation to create beautiful and original designs of mine. This was only possible because of the trainer and their ability to teach me how to do these things.”In addition, she said “I also learned how to be patient, because I thought it would take me five minutes to make a necklace and I was surprised to see that it took me over an hour, but I am so happy with the result.” A second participant sais “Today we learned how to work in teams. There were five teams today and all of us learned how to share the same tools and help each other when needed.”
Two teachers from the same school participated in the training and were very happy with the products that they created.
