MA’AN Development Center Conducts Field Visits in West Ramallah Villages to Strengthen Community Resilience

Implemented by MA'AN Development Center, in partnership with Oxfam Deutschland and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the Transitional Development Assistance (TDA) program, field visits were conducted to villages west of Ramallah, including Budrus, Qibya, Ni’lin, Shabtin, and Al-Midya, as part of the project “Building Resilience in West Bank Communities to Transform the Current Shock into a Sustainable Future.”
These visits aimed to introduce the project, establish local community committees, select coordinators for the committees, and conduct field assessments to identify needs and development priorities in each village.
The meetings brought together representatives from local councils, schools, agricultural committees, civil society organizations, farmers, and community members. A participatory approach based on dialogue and open discussion was adopted to ensure the inclusion of different groups, with a focus on strengthening the representation of women and youth in the newly formed committees.
The visits resulted in the establishment and activation of four local community committees, with a coordinator selected for each committee. Initial priorities were also identified in the agricultural and productive sectors as well as infrastructure, in addition to the need to support economic empowerment programs, strengthen the participation of women and youth, and implement interventions that support mental health and social cohesion.
This intervention aims to strengthen mechanisms for community participation, support livelihoods, and contribute to building the capacities of local communities to address current economic and social challenges, thereby enhancing their resilience and the sustainability of their resources.
