MA'AN Development Center implemented a series of specialized training sessions totaling 72 training hours, targeting environmental clubs in 12 schools across the governorates of Tubas, Nablus, Bethlehem, and Hebron. This was carried out as part of the “Sustainable Development in Schools” project under the Palestine Green Program, in partnership with ِEnabel, the Belgian agency for international cooperation and funded by the Belgian Government, in coordination with the Environment Quality Authority (EQA) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education(MOE).
The training targeted administrative bodies supervising environmental and comprehensive health clubs. It focused on strengthening concepts of environmental sustainability, as well as mechanisms for establishing, developing, and managing school-based clubs. The sessions also supported the development of practical action plans enabling students to implement sustainable environmental initiatives that address the needs of both the school and the local community. In addition, the training covered sustainable development concepts, enhanced active participation, and supported the design of applicable school initiatives, contributing to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and institutional action within the school environment.
This activity comes as part of the ongoing efforts of MA'AN Development Center and its partners to empower 25 schools to strengthen their role in promoting environmental awareness and adopting sustainable practices that positively impact the local community. The initiative also aims to enhance the technical capacities of students and school representatives through environmental education, awareness-raising, and practical initiatives.
The project will implement environmental activities targeting no fewer than 420 students by providing recycling materials and supplies, waste sorting tools, compost production materials, agricultural supplies, and materials and paints for murals.
It is worth noting that the project also targets 13 schools for the establishment of greenhouses equipped with modern agricultural technologies, in addition to delivering agricultural and environmental training programs and supporting the planting of fruit trees, medicinal plants, and other sustainability-focused activities.
