MA’AN Development Center Completes Water Network Rehabilitation and Tank Installation at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital Serving 4,500 Beneficiaries
MA’AN Development Center has completed the procurement and delivery of materials and supplies necessary for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the water supply network and the cleaning of water tanks at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Central Governorate, in cooperation with the hospital’s Engineering and Maintenance Department and with support from UNICEF.
This intervention comes as part of the activities implemented by MA'AN Development Center under the project “Emergency Response in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in the Gaza Strip.” Through this project, essential materials required for network maintenance were supplied, including fittings, couplings, connectors, elbows, tees, pipes, valves, floats, operational accessories, and maintenance tools. The hospital’s engineering and maintenance technical teams carried out the rehabilitation works.
Following the delivery of materials by MA’AN, a total of 27 water tanks—provided by UNICEF to replace damaged and destroyed ones—were installed and connected to the network. Necessary rehabilitation and maintenance works were also completed to prevent leakage. This intervention is expected to stop water leakage, address shortages in the hospital’s water supply following the installation of the new tanks, and improve the performance of network components using the supplied materials.
The project represents a rapid response to recurring challenges, including frequent water outages, and aims to improve water supply services across all hospital departments. It is expected that no fewer than 4,500 individuals will benefit from the project within the scope of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, including patients, their companions, staff, doctors, nurses, and visitors.
