MA’AN Development Center is implementing the Youth Center Hackathon, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in the Gaza Strip.
The first day of the Youth Center Hackathon started today, organized by MA’AN Development Center with support from UNFPA, as part of the project to protect and empower young people in Gaza. The hackathon will run for two days.
At the opening, Mr. Jaber Qudaih – Director of Gaza office – welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of this event in supporting youth, helping them be creative, and play an active role in serving their community despite the tough challenges in Gaza.
Mr. Nestor Omyohangi– UNFPA Representative in Palestine – also gave a speech, expressing his respect for the strength of young people and their determination to move forward. He said that holding this hackathon during war and blockade sends a message of hope and shows the strong will of youth to create change.
The hackathon aims to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for multi-purpose youth centers, and it gives young people new opportunities to innovate, create, and take part in their community in a positive way.
