MA'AN, in partnership with the Popular Art Centre, implemented a central networking activity in the village of Husan, west of Bethlehem, as part of the Youth Partnership Forum Project. Around 150 young men and women from across the West Bank participated, with the aim of strengthening community preparedness and highlighting the vital role of youth in emergency committees.
The activity began at the village council headquarters in Husan, where the head of the council, Mr. Jamal Sabateen, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the youth role in protecting the land and Palestinian presence. The event featured a field march starting from “Ein Al-Balad” and reaching the “Ein Al-Hawiya” site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, passing by several natural springs including Ein Al-Sukhna, Ein Al-Arousa, and Ein Abu Atiya. Along the way, participants learned about the reality of agricultural lands and water resources targeted by the occupation and settlers, which deepened their awareness of the importance of land and water as essential sources of resilience and survival.
The Emergency Committee in Husan also presented an overview of the main challenges facing the village, stressing the need to form local emergency committees under current circumstances.
At the conclusion of the activity, participants affirmed that such initiatives enhance networking among youth groups, foster a spirit of collective action in the face of challenges, and contribute to empowering youth to play an active role in protecting their communities and strengthening their resilience.
