MA’AN Development Center completed a youth initiative chosen by a group of boys and girls (ages 12–15) in the towns of Burdah and Ein Al-Bayda in Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley, as part of the Active Citizenship program under the Jood 5 project, funded by the Norwegian Representation to the Palestinian Authority.
The participants selected the “Improving Public Parks” initiative because it met important community needs in both towns and had a direct impact on improving recreational and social spaces for residents.
The initiative included several improvements in public parks: upgrading open spaces, enhancing privacy in seating areas, installing family tables and waste bins, adding new children’s playground equipment, and preparing a football goal in Ein Al-Bayda park to provide a safe space for sports and recreational activities.
This initiative built on previous Active Citizenship training organized by MA’AN, which focused on identity, belonging, and community participation, helping young participants express their ideas and develop initiatives that positively impact their local environment.
