The 2014 MA’AN Agenda has now been released. Through the use of informative case studies that mark the beginning of each month, this year’s publication takes aim at the particular challenges faced by youth in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt). As stated by the United Nations, “in every field of human development…[youth] are destined to guide the fortunes of mankind”. With this reasoning in mind, MA’AN acknowledges the crucial role that young people have to play in development at both local and national levels.
Following this theme, topics covered in the agenda include the precarious situation of youth in Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley, an in-depth look at gender-based challenges to economic productivity and education amongst young people, the life-threatening realities of the administrative detention and imprisonment of minors, as well as the agency and ingenuity of Palestinian youth under seemingly impossible circumstances.
