Through the Social and Economic Development Program, MA’AN Development Center works to promote economic empowerment through capacity building workshops. These workshops provide trainings of trainer sessions, technical mentorships and coaching sessions. Topics presented in these capacity building workshops vary from marketing and business strategizing to green practices and circular economy. This program cross-sects with MA’ANs Agriculture and Natural Resource Program, as MA’AN strives to support job creation opportunities within the agricultural sector in Palestine.
Within this program, the sub-projects focus on 4 types of interventions for entrepreneurs and small business owners:
MA’AN Center strives to empower entrepreneurs and small business owners by developing studies, manual guides, and policies for employment.
MA’AN Center strives to create leaders and sustainable employment opportunities by investing in capacitating the life skills and technical skills of job seekers, including women, youth, and people with disabilities.
Providing in-kind and cash funds for entrepreneurs and small business owners to start and grow their businesses.
MA'AN Center works to create and build marketing channels for entrepreneurs and small business owners with both public and private institutions, and national and international-level investors.
MA’AN Center launches relevant social accountability campaigns to promote the importance of supporting local Palestinian products while also advocating for better working conditions in the labor force.
Through these program interventions, job opportunities have been created and targeted Palestinian communities become capacitated and empowered to support their livelihoods and pursue their business passions. Through an economic empowerment project at MA'AN Center, 28-year-old Ghada from Gaza stated, “I advise every woman to reveal her entrepreneurial skills and use it to find her business opportunity, to create a job opportunity for herself and other youth instead of being trapped in traditional job-seeking.”
