On the occasion of World Mental Health Day
MA’AN Development Center concluded its Group Psychosocial Support Program, implemented as part of the activities of the project “Inclusive Support for Civil Society Organizations in the Gaza Strip with a Focus on Women” under the “Investment Program for Resilience (IPR)”, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP), with funding from the of Germany Government through its Development Bank (KfW)
The programme aimed to promote mental health and provide a safe space for participants to express their feelings, share their experiences, and develop skills to help them cope with daily stress and challenges.
A total of 200 participants benefited from the programme through 189 group psychosocial support sessions, amounting to 283 hours of support, interaction, and peer engagement, implemented from May to October 2026.
The programme provided a safe and supportive space for dialogue, listening, and self-expression. It contributed to strengthening participants’ sense of support and belonging, while highlighting the importance of mental health as an essential part of overall health and quality of life.
On World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm that caring for mental health is not a luxury, but a fundamental right and essential need. Seeking support and assistance is a step towards healing, resilience, and strength.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to everyone who contributed to the success of this programme, and to all the participants who were part of this meaningful human experience.
