Jenin – MA’AN Development Center, in cooperation with the Jenin Directorate of Agriculture, received completed development interventions aimed at supporting the agricultural sector, strengthening farmers’ resilience, and improving agricultural infrastructure.
The interventions included the installation of two solar energy systems for two agricultural wells, each with a capacity of 15 kW. These systems provide a sustainable energy source to operate the wells, reduce production costs, and support the sustainability of agricultural water supplies.
The activities also included the installation of water transmission lines totaling 4 kilometers, designed to improve water conveyance efficiency and access to water for the agricultural lands served, thereby enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.
These interventions were implemented under the Livelihoods, Infrastructure and Food Systems Enhancement Programme (LIFT Palestine), funded by the Government of Sweden, managed by We Effect, and implemented by MA’AN Development Center in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.
The interventions highlight the importance of institutional partnerships and cooperation in supporting the agricultural sector, improving the efficient use of water and energy resources, and strengthening the resilience of farming communities and the sustainability of their livelihoods.
Representatives of the agricultural private sector benefiting from these interventions expressed their gratitude to MA’AN Development Center, the Government of Sweden, and We Effect for supporting projects that address the sector’s needs, reduce operating costs, and improve access to water. They emphasized the role of these projects in enabling them to sustain production, maintain viable businesses, and remain steadfast on their land.
