As part of efforts to provide students with a safe and dignified learning environment, MA’AN Development Center has begun construction works at Atouf and Tammun schools in Tubas Governorate under the “Strengthening School Infrastructure in Tammun and Atouf” project. This intervention forms part of “JOUD – Phase V: Strengthening Resilience in the Jordan Valley,” funded by the Norwegian Representative Office (NRO) and implemented in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Education.
At Atouf School, excavation and soil replacement works have begun in preparation for the construction of new sanitation facilities and a school canteen. These improvements will provide a more suitable school environment while strengthening dignity, privacy, and protection for students. The works respond to an existing need, as the current sanitation facilities share a location and entrance, limiting the privacy and protection afforded to students.
At Tammun School, rehabilitation works have begun on the school’s boundary walls. The existing walls provide inadequate protection, with some sections at risk of collapse, posing a safety hazard to students and staff. The rehabilitation will improve safety and protection within the school grounds.
These interventions aim to improve school infrastructure, enhance student safety, and create a safer, more dignified, and supportive learning environment.
