Networking Activity for Palestinian Youth Groups in Halhul
A networking and volunteer activity was held in the city of Halhul as part of the Youth Partnership Forum Project, in partnership with the Halhul Youth Local Council and Halhul Municipality, and coordinated by the Students Forum Foundation. The activity was supervised and implemented by MA’AN Development Center and the Popular Art Centre, with the aim of strengthening communication and facilitating the exchange of experiences among Palestinian youth groups.
More than 60 young women and men representing youth groups and active grassroots centers within the forum participated in the activity. It offered them an opportunity to learn about the Halhul Youth Local Council’s extensive experience in youth and community work, as well as its approaches to designing and implementing sustainable, research-based initiatives that mobilize local and community resources and strengthen young people’s role in creating positive change in their communities.
The activity included a field tour that began at the Haska Al-Safa Environmental Trail, which the Halhul Youth Local Council helped establish and develop as a community and environmental space that strengthens young people’s connection to their local surroundings.
The tour also highlighted the council’s kiosk initiative as a social economy model. The kiosks provide income-generating opportunities for 16 families, while the proceeds from leasing them support the Needy Students Fund managed by the Youth Local Council.
The activity concluded with a visit to the historic Prophet Yunus Mosque, where participants learned about its historical and cultural significance. They were also introduced to the reality of settler incursions and organized visits to the site, reinforcing awareness of the importance of protecting cultural heritage and preserving national identity.
This activity forms part of the Youth Partnership Forum Project, implemented by MA’AN Development Center and the Popular Art Centre. The project seeks to strengthen networking among young people, facilitate the exchange of successful experiences, and support youth-led initiatives capable of creating sustainable change in local communities.
