MA’AN Launches Project to Support Civil Society Organizations and Economically Empower Women in Gaza
MA’AN Development Center has launched the project “Comprehensive Support for Civil Society Organizations in the Gaza Strip with a Focus on Women” under the “ Investment Program for Resilience (IPR)”, implemented by the United Nations Development Program / Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) and funded by the German Government through the German Development Bank (KfW).
The project aims to contribute to restoring livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of local communities, while promoting women’s economic empowerment as a key pillar of early recovery efforts in the Gaza Strip. It also seeks to enhance the social, economic, and psychological resilience of conflict-affected women and youth by providing practical skills, psychosocial support services, and access to small-scale income-generating opportunities.
The project’s first activities commenced on Monday, 8 June 2026, including specialized training programs designed to empower marginalized women to establish new sources of income through home-based productive enterprises. The project also supports the recovery and sustainability of women-led small and medium enterprises affected by the war, in partnership with the “Sawasya” Program. In addition, psychosocial support services are being provided to beneficiaries to strengthen their psychological and social resilience, enabling them to better manage and sustain their businesses as a source of income for themselves and their families.
As part of these activities, specialized training sessions were launched for 30 women who had previously benefited from the Sawasya Program. The training was delivered over four days at the MA’AN Development Center premises in Gaza and covered business management skills, financial literacy, and market readiness.
Following the training, participants will receive tailored mentoring and support packages, as well as practical tools and equipment to help rebuild and strengthen their businesses, improve their incomes, and enhance their participation in local markets.
