A significant milestone has been achieved under the project “Enhancing Shelter Resilience and Protection for Displaced Families in Gaza,” implemented by MA’AN in partnership with Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
This week, MA’AN successfully completed a series of intensive capacity-building workshops for Community Relief Committees (CRCs) in Gaza City, Deir El-Balah, and Khan Younis. The training focused on shelter assistance coordination, community engagement, accountability, ethical conduct, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
The 36-hour training program targeted 30 committee members representing six CRCs, serving three internally displaced persons (IDP) communities across the targeted areas.
By strengthening the capacities of these local committees, the training helps ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered transparently, inclusively, and with a focus on the most vulnerable members of the community, including women, older persons, and persons with disabilities.
Testimonial from participants:
“Through this training, we are now better equipped to coordinate assistance distributions and ensure that every family in need receives the support they deserve with dignity and fairness.”
“The training was very valuable. We learned many important concepts related to safety and the protection of displaced families in shelters. We also gained our first in-depth understanding of sexual exploitation and abuse issues, which helped raise our awareness and better prepare us to address such challenges within our communities.”
