MA’AN Youth Center in Deir Al-Balah Implements Interactive Activities on World Health Day

As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness among different segments of the community, the MA’AN Youth Center in Deir Al-Balah organized a series of diverse interactive activities to mark World Health Day, which is celebrated annually to highlight key health issues and promote concepts of comprehensive health and quality of life.
These activities were implemented ضمن مشروع Protection and Empowerment of Youth and Adolescents in the Gaza Strip, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), reaffirming that health is a shared responsibility that requires the combined efforts of individuals and institutions, as well as the adoption of healthy lifestyles based on physical, psychological, and social balance.
Over the course of three days, the center carried out practical and interactive activities combining sports, health education, and community engagement. The activities targeted various age groups, particularly youth and adolescents.
The event featured a range of sports activities, most notably a youth marathon, in addition to group warm-up exercises and quick sports competitions that helped promote positive competition and physical activity.
On the health side, a discussion session titled “A Cup of Coffee with a Doctor” was organized, providing participants with an opportunity for direct dialogue and to ask questions on various health topics. Awareness messages were also shared, focusing on the importance of regular check-ups and early detection for disease prevention and improving quality of life. The event also included short educational workshops addressing healthy nutrition, the importance of daily exercise, and first aid, along with interactive Q&A-based activities.
To reinforce health concepts in a practical way, an interactive activity titled “Your Plate, Made by Your Hands” was conducted, where participants prepared healthy fruit dishes to promote healthy eating habits and encourage a shift toward a balanced diet.
The MA’AN Youth Center affirmed that this event reflects its commitment to its community role in promoting health awareness and building a more informed society capable of adopting positive health behaviors.
The center continues to provide its services and programs to youth, adolescents, and families in Deir Al-Balah, including youth skill development, raising awareness on sexual and reproductive health, offering psychosocial support services, and empowering young people to design and implement their own community-led initiatives.
