The Director General of MA’AN Development Center, Sami Khader, and his team met with the Minister of Labor, Dr. Enas Attari, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and improve vocational training programs. The goal is to match training programs with the needs of the Palestinian labor market and increase job opportunities for youth and women, especially in Jericho, Tubas, and other vulnerable areas.
Dr. Attari shared the Ministry’s vision of linking vocational training outcomes with labor market needs. She stressed the importance of partnership with NGOs, private sector institutions, and non-profit organizations, and the need to coordinate efforts with the Ministry’s vocational training centers. This includes sharing resources, curricula, and expertise to improve training quality and employment opportunities.
She also highlighted the importance of vocational training in preparing youth and women through modern programs that respond to the changing labor market. She emphasized that training programs and specializations should be based on accurate labor market studies. She mentioned that smart labs that will be established in camps across the West Bank aim to meet the economic and social needs of youth and women and help them find jobs or start their own businesses.
Sami Khader stressed the importance of reviving vocational training to support community development and the private sector. He emphasized developing modern training programs that meet labor market needs and help youth and women gain the skills required for employment.
Khader praised the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and expressed the center’s readiness to cooperate in supporting and organizing the entrepreneurship sector. He highlighted the importance of focusing on specialized fields such as tourism, ceramics, mother-of-pearl crafts, and the restaurant sector, due to their role in strengthening the vocational sector.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed the importance of strengthening and developing vocational training programs and centers, and enhancing public-private partnerships to reduce high unemployment rates among youth and improve their professional skills, especially in Jericho and Tubas.
