MA’AN Development Center Signs Project to Support Women and Persons with Disabilities

With funding from the World Bank and supervision by the Ministry of Finance and Planning, MA’AN Development Center signed an agreement with the Community Development Center and 11 other local organizations, with a total value of 9.2 million dollars. This is part of the “Social Recovery and Job Creation” project to support women and people with disabilities.
These projects focus on different productive and service sectors that help create sustainable livelihoods. They include traditional and organic farming, food and agricultural processing, handicrafts, and traditional industries. This supports local development and strengthens the rural and women’s economy.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Ghassan Kassabreh, Director of the Development Center, thanked the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance and Planning. He praised the partnership with the 11 organizations, which have strong experience in supporting and empowering women and people with disabilities in the Palestinian labor market. He explained that the projects were selected through clear standards and a competitive process that reflected the high need and growing demand to support the labor market.
Ms. Tahani Al-Madhoun, Director of the Social Recovery and Job Creation Project, also stressed the importance of this project, which is supervised by the Ministry of Finance and Planning. She said it supports the government’s strategy to strengthen social recovery, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
She added that these agreements are an important step in supporting civil society organizations to carry out projects for women and people with disabilities, especially during the current difficult economic situation, which affects women and people with disabilities more than others.
