Amid the difficult humanitarian conditions and daily challenges facing cities in the northern West Bank due to repeated incursions, MA’AN Development Center has concluded the implementation of the Emergency Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Response Project for Jenin Municipality, with support from the oPt Humanitarian Fund (OPT HF).
The project included a comprehensive package of urgent humanitarian interventions aimed at improving health and environmental conditions and ensuring the continuity of water and sanitation services. As part of the project, three booster units were supplied and installed at the city’s main water pumping stations: Al-Sa‘ada Well, Al-Jamal Well Pumping Station, and Sabah Al-Khair Suburb Pumping Station.
The project also included interventions in water and wastewater networks, through the supply and installation of 5,900 linear meters of drinking water pipelines of various diameters, in addition to 1,330 linear meters of sewage lines. All necessary accessories were provided, including valves, meters, connections, manholes, and covers, to ensure efficient operation and uninterrupted service delivery.
Implemented over a period of five months, with a total budget of approximately USD 325,000, the project was carried out in partnership with Jenin Municipality and represents a real contribution to improving residents’ daily quality of life and strengthening their ability to cope with repeated crises.
MA’AN Development Center affirmed that this intervention reflects its strong commitment to supporting affected communities and providing practical, rapid-impact solutions, emphasizing that investing in vital water and sanitation infrastructure is a cornerstone for enhancing stability and resilience during this sensitive humanitarian phase in Jenin Governorate.
