Enhancing Food Security in the Gaza Strip,” funded by the Danish and Norwegian Church Aid (DCA-NCA), in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture in the southern governorates.
The project aimed to strengthen the resilience of affected families, farmers, and workers in the Gaza Strip, while supporting the local supply chain by providing essential agricultural inputs, urban home-gardening inputs, cash-for-work opportunities, and technical support for affected farmers and workers.
A total of 80 farmers with greenhouses and open fields benefited from the project by receiving essential agricultural inputs, including seeds and seedlings, to enhance their production of fresh food.
In addition, 30 home gardens were established for affected families in Gaza, providing them with urban home-gardening inputs such as seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, agricultural tools, and water tanks to ensure safe and continuous access to fresh food.
The project also provided 4,190 workdays for skilled agricultural workers, contributing to reducing production costs for farmers and beneficiary families, while offering temporary employment opportunities for targeted workers.
As part of the project activities, specialized awareness sessions were conducted for farmers and workers on the risks of unexploded ordnance and safe handling practices while working on agricultural land, aiming to ensure their safety and enhance community awareness of these risks.
