MA’AN Development Center Implements Five Community Initiatives to Empower Youth in Muwassi, Khan Younis

A group of young volunteers at MA’AN Development Center carried out five community initiatives in Al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis. This came after they took part in several trainings at MA’AN Youth Center, which aimed to strengthen their leadership skills and help them play an active role in serving their community.
These initiatives are part of the “Protection and Empowerment of Youth and Adolescents in Gaza Strip” project, implemented by MA’AN Development Center with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Forty young volunteers helped carry out the initiatives, which reached 214 people from different groups.
The project focuses on developing young people’s skills and supporting their role in creating positive, long-term change. The initiatives were designed by the youth themselves, based on the needs of their community. They included activities about sexual and reproductive health awareness, hygiene, psychosocial support, and more.
The five initiatives were successful in reaching different groups in the community, especially adolescents and children in the most affected areas. The young volunteers said that this experience gave them a real chance to apply what they learned in a practical way. It helped spread awareness, strengthen community ties, and build their confidence in their leadership skills and ability to make a difference.
The project continues to provide a safe and supportive environment for youth, helping them develop their skills and take part in community activities through ongoing trainings and youth-led initiatives.
