MAA’AN Development Center Signs Cooperation Agreements to Rehabilitate Grape Vineyards in Al-Khader, Bethlehem Governorate

MA’AN Development Center and the Directorate of Agriculture in Bethlehem Governorate signed agreements with 12 farmers from Al-Khader town to benefit from the grapevine rehabilitation activity. This activity is part of the project “Strengthening Resilience to Empower Local Communities in Bethlehem”, funded by HEKS EPER and implemented by MA’AN Development Center in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.
The signing ceremony took place at Al-Khader Municipality with the participation of Eng. Abdul Wahab Halaika, Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture in Bethlehem, Eng. Khaled Hassasneh, Director of the Technical Department, Mr. Ghassan Al-Qimri, Project Manager representing MA’AN, and Mr. Ahmad Salah, Mayor of Al-Khader.
Through this activity, 24 dunums of grapevines will be rehabilitated, and farmers will receive the needed materials to build grape trellises and grape seedlings, helping them improve production and ensure sustainable income.
The project also includes other activities in different locations, such as rehabilitating 16 dunums of land in Khirbet Beit Skaria, establishing 3 dunums of agricultural demonstration plots in Wadi Fukin village, and providing training sessions for farmers, conducted by the staff of the Bethlehem Directorate of Agriculture.
The signing was attended by Eng. Mo’taz Awad, members of the community committee in Al-Khader, and the benefiting farmers.
