MA’AN Development Center, through the “Safe Spaces” initiative and as part of the Youth Partnership Forum Project, continues to provide psychological support sessions for children in Gaza, in response to the growing needs.
The goal of the initiative is to train volunteers to give emotional support to people during crises, and to help them respond in a professional and understanding way — especially since there are very few organized psychological support programs in schools and shelters.
As part of the initiative, two safe spaces were created inside schools and shelters. These are equipped with tools and materials to help children express their emotions during group therapy sessions and workshops. These are run by specialists, along with trained teachers, to help children cope with trauma and stress.
The activities took place in Deir al-Balah and Nuseirat Camp, where children joined in art and expression activities. These helped them safely and creatively share their feelings, improve their emotional awareness, and reduce psychological pressure — all in a loving and supportive environment.
