MA’AN Development Center Implements Specialized Training Program to Build the Capacity of a Technical Committee Representing Five Villages in Jenin

 

As part of its commitment to sustainable development and community participation, MA’AN Development Center carried out a specialized training program to strengthen the technical committee representing five villages in Jenin (Arana, Arbouna, Al-Jalama, Jalboun, and Al-Foqou’a). The program was implemented through the Palestinian Agricultural Institutions Coalition (PAIC) and funded by the European Union.

This training is one of several key interventions taking place in over 30 locations across the West Bank under the EU-funded Tahamul Project, which aims to support livelihoods and improve the economic and social situation of rural communities.

The program helps local communities improve their economic and social conditions through better and more sustainable management of water and land, using smart agriculture tools and methods. It follows a participatory approach, putting the community at the center of planning and implementation. This empowers villages to invest in their own resources, build on their shared strengths, and face complex challenges such as occupation policies, ongoing violations, and growing environmental and economic pressures.

The training built the knowledge and skills of committee members (women and men) in areas like project planning, natural resource management, cooperation between the five villages, access to funding, and climate change. It also highlighted fairness and inclusion in providing services, accountability, transparency, and enabling citizens to take an active role in setting their own development priorities.
