General Assembly:
MA'AN's
General Assembly has grown over the past 17 years. Initially the General
Assembly began with eight (8) members. In 1998, MA’AN’s General Assembly was expanded to include seven
(7) new members for a total of fifteen (15). By the turn of the century, an additional twenty one (21) members were
elected bringing the total to an impressive thirty six (36) member General
Assembly. Within the General Assembly, there are several members who are
from the Center's original founders. The Assembly is responsible for determining
MA’AN’s general objectives,
policy making decisions, and setting strategic targets. The General
Assembly Members are experts in a variety of fields such as economics,
agriculture, business, community development, computer science, women’s studies, health,
accounting, sociology,
demography, engineering, sociology, education, international law and
history. MA'AN's General Assembly Members come from different geographical
locations and sectors within Palestine. Most members
of the General Assembly also have extensive experience in the NGO sector.

MA'AN's Board of Directors:Elected by
the General Assembly, the Board of Directors consists of seven (7) members: the
Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and three other
members. The Director-General attends the meetings, but does not vote.
The Board of Directors is mandated to set short-term objectives and supervise the operations of
MA’AN Center. The Board, which
meets on a monthly basis, works closely with the Director-General in accomplishing
MA’AN’s mission.

Director General:Sami
Khader is MA’AN’s Director General and one
of the founders of the MA’AN Development
Center since it’s establishment in 1989. He takes great pride in the
uniqueness and quality of the developmental programs and projects at
MA’AN.
The Director-General, who is appointed by the Board of Directors, is responsible for planning, managing, and administering
MA’AN’s work as well
as implementing policy decisions.
The Director General is
appointed by the Board of Directors and he meets with the Board Members on a
monthly basis.Staff: MA'AN
currently has thirty three (33) staff members including 3 volunteers located in Ramallah, Jenin,
Salfeet and Gaza and
continues to grow.
MA’AN’s staff consists
of a core management team of professional employees. Employees regularly
receive on-the-job as well as external training. Our employees and
trainers are sent abroad for specialized training courses. MA’AN
also draws from a large pool of trainers
who are specialists in their fields. Our trainers are employed by
MA’AN on a full- or part-time basis,
or with special contracts. Local, regional (from neighboring Jordan
and Egypt), and international specialists have been recruited within our
training programs. MA’AN strongly upholds the principle of
