The environmental online magazine played a crucial role in providing a platform for discussion and dialogue among the general public and environmentalists. The impact of the online magazine was outstanding, as shown by the numerous letters, comments and contributions from both Arab and Palestinian readers. Contributions received from different environmental writers and journalists from Lebanon, UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco provide evidence that the online magazine is receiving significant recognition and appreciation, which encourages us to pursue our mission of environmental protection.
The online magazine was not just a website for publishing articles and research papers, it was also a platform to follow-up cases and issues as well as referring these cases to respective entities for further investigation.
MA'AN had the goal of following-up cases discussed within the online magazine and reinforcing collective efforts to bring these issues to the forefront.
Both national and Arab media have recognized the significance of the online magazine. Arab TV and Radio Stations such as Al-Jazeera and Al-Manar have cited parts of the reports published in the online magazine. The online edition has become a pioneering Arab environmental magazine and has more than 500 daily visits or an average of 15,000 viewers per month. The transformation of the online magazine to a website was a move undertaken in pursuit of MA’AN’s goal to increase understanding and awareness of environmental and development issues not only among Palestinians, but also amongst citizens of other Arab states. With more than 60 groups on the email list, each one consisting of more than 60 recipients, the environmental magazine serves as an information resource and a platform for dialogue and influence as well as an entity that brings intellectuals under one umbrella.
Based on this success MA’AN aims to continue its mission of educating the public and raising their awareness on local and global environmental issues through the publishing the online magazine. The generous fund provided by HBF enabled the online magazine to flourish in a relatively short period of time, and to further expand its substantial effect by providing both Palestinians and Arabs with an extraordinary opportunity to learn, discuss and exchange knowledge and experience on environmental issues
