Exhibition" in Ramallah. Over 170 Palestinian institutions from the West
Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the 1948 Palestinian territories, as well as
NGOs from Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan, participate -- including a number
of international NGOs. The Book Exhibition is organized in cooperation
with the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation, and through Bunian's program of
Capacity Building and Networking of NGOs, which is supported by the European
Commission. Two publications were produced: A Directory of local Palestinian
and regional NGOs, and the first Bibliography covering the publications

MA'AN organized and hosted an Australian Study Tour brought
to Palestine by a partner NGO Australian People for Health, Education,
and Development Abroad. The study group was headed by Sir Ronald Wilson,
former High Court Judge of Australia and currently the President of the
Australian Council for Overseas Aid -- a peak body representing over 100
Australian NGOs. The study tour traveled through-out the West Bank and
the Gaza Strip, meeting various organizations and individuals. In his press
release back in Australia, Sir Ronald said the following: "In this climate
of enormous tension, uncertainty and frustration, the role of international
aid is enormously important. The sense of empowerment that small community
based aid projects can provide helps maintain the essential fabric of society
when everything else seems to be tearing apart".
