May
Two of MA’AN’s staff, Karam Sandouka and Jaber Qudyh, and two
trainers, Na’el Younis and Basem Kashou, attend a three-week CEFE training
course in Train the Trainers in Cairo, Egypt, in a joint cooperation effort
with GTZ/DtA.
May - June
MA’AN’s Resource Unit is further enhanced with new books, videos
and computer software donated by the British Council.
June
MA’AN’s Research and Information Unit completes the analysis
of a survey conducted by the Palestinian NGO Network on the status of Palestinian
NGOs in Jerusalem.
June
After extensive collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture on the
arbitrary use of chemical pesticides in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the
Ministry takes a decision to amend policies regarding the use of pesticides
in agriculture
June
An Australian volunteer joins MA’AN’s administrative team for
one year.
July
In cooperation with the Marda Sustainable Development Center and the
Beita Women’s Development Committee, MA’AN opens a children’s library
and establishes home gardens in Beita. This project was funded by
the South African Representative’s Office.
August
Two Australian specialists join MA’AN’s team in our English
for Specific Purposes program to develop new English language programs.

In a joint cooperation effort between MA’AN, the Continuing
Education Department at Bizeit University, Bisan Center for Research and
Development, and GTZ/DtA, a training program, "How to Start Your Own Business,"
for small and medium business enterprises was launched in the West Bank
and Gaza Strip. The program consists of six public workshops attended
by interested participants, especially entrepreneurs.
August
MA’AN runs the first CEFE training course, "How to Start Your
Own Business," from August 9 to 27, in the Gaza Strip. The course
is attended by 16 entrepreneurs.
August
From April to August, MA’AN publishes many articles and studies
(comprising 11 broad sheets) in our “Agricultural and Developmental Issues”
page in Al-Quds newspaper.
