PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 Goal:

To provide immediate relief to those in dire need in villages in the Gaza Strip.

 Components:

Food Coupons – the food coupons were distributed to the most destitute families in villages in Gaza.  The coupons were worth a total of 400 NIS, and covered the cost of the items listed above.

Beneficiaries:

  • 760 families given coupons for basic foodstuffs (approximately 5,320 individuals as average family size is 7)

Methodology:

MA'AN Development Center understands the importance of a fair and just distribution mechanism for the project.  For this reason, MA'AN relied on three different bodies to help with the distribution:

  • Village Councils

  • Village Popular Committees

  • MA’AN Field Coordinator

Selection criteria for distribution was based on a number of factors, including the number of children, level of poverty, women head of households, the elderly, and whether the household has received any previous assistance.
